Terms of use
Last updated: 17 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Angelos Mangos, an individual based in the Netherlands ("we", "us"), who makes and runs Sikono. By using Sikono you agree to them, so please read them, especially sections 2 and 3. You can reach us at contact@athanatos.dev.
1. Who can use Sikono
You must be 18 or older to use Sikono.
2. Sikono is not medical advice
Sikono is a general wellness app for logging food and body weight. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical, dietary or nutritional advice. Its targets and suggestions come from general formulas and from what you log, not from a professional who knows your health.
Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before you change how you eat, and don't use Sikono to make diet decisions without one if you:
- are pregnant or breastfeeding,
- have, or have had, an eating disorder,
- have diabetes or another condition affected by what you eat,
- take medication that depends on your diet, or
- are under medical supervision for your weight.
If using Sikono makes you anxious about food or your body, please stop and talk to someone you trust or a professional.
3. Everything in Sikono is an estimate
The numbers in Sikono are approximations, not facts about the food you eat or your body:
- Food data comes from public databases (USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts) and from what you enter. It can be incomplete or wrong, and products change.
- AI photo results are rough estimates. A photo can't show everything in a meal. It can miss or mistake foods, hidden ingredients (like oils, butter, sauces and dressings), allergens and portion sizes. Treat what it suggests as a starting point to check and correct.
- Energy targets, maintenance and progress are estimates from formulas and your own logs, and can be off.
Never rely on Sikono for allergies, intolerances or medical needs. Don't use it to decide whether a food is safe for you, or to dose insulin or any other medication. Always read the label and ingredients, and ask whoever made the food when you're unsure.
Sikono has some built-in limits: it won't set a daily target below 1,200 kcal or your estimated resting energy, and it won't let you aim to lose weight below a healthy weight for your height. These are safety nets, not a promise that a plan is right for you.
4. Sikono Pro
Some features, like AI photo logging, need a Sikono Pro subscription, bought through Google Play or the App Store.
- Prices, any free trial and the billing period are shown before you buy. A trial turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends.
- Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your Google Play or App Store account.
- Payments, cancellations and refunds are handled by Google or Apple under their terms. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
- As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Pro starts right away, so by buying it you ask for it to start straight away and agree that you lose this right once it has.
- AI photo logging has a fair-use limit (currently 30 photos a day) to keep it available for everyone.
- Pro features may change over time. If we stop offering Pro, we'll stop renewals and tell you in the app.
5. Your data
How we handle your data is described in our privacy policy. Most of your data stays on your phone, so you're responsible for keeping it, for example with your phone's backups. We can't recover data that is lost with your device.
6. Using Sikono fairly
Don't misuse Sikono or our server: no automated or excessive requests, no attempts to get around Pro or the limits, and no interfering with how the service works. We may block access to the AI photo service for misuse.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Sikono working well, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or unchanged. We may update, change or remove features.
8. Liability
We provide Sikono with care, but because it gives estimates and isn't medical advice (sections 2 and 3), we're not liable for decisions you make based on it, or for any harm from food you eat, including allergic reactions.
As far as the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Sikono Pro in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or takes away your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.
9. Other services
Sikono relies on services we don't control, including Google Play, the App Store, Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, Cloudflare and Google Gemini. Their own terms apply to them, and we're not responsible for them.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Sikono and cancel Pro.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer law, and you can also bring a claim in your own country's courts.
If you have a problem, please email us first at contact@athanatos.dev and we'll try to sort it out.
